I am officially starting to use Instagram. I know…where have I been? My phone is on its last leg, and lets just say its not as easy to operate as I thought. There wont be a subject matter in my photos. More or less just life. Probably more personal than anything.

There is nothing like finding new blogs that get you excited. I hope new readers feel that way when they fall upon my lil ole blog. Anyway, Billie Rose is a great blog to follow if you love fashion, with splashes of life. That’s what makes a good blog to me. A peek into your space, who you are. Not just the fabulous clothes you wear, or the way you decorate. But the little things that make people interested, or want to get to know you. I found that with this blog.

POSHMARK PARTY

Wednesday was a fun day. I hadn't had a visit with my dear friend Tan in a while, and asked her if she wanted to come along with me since I was one of the hosts for the POSHMARK party. She said YES thank goodness, which made me very happy. She is pregnant with her first baby, and I was just so excited to see her. I was able to hug her, and talk baby talk to her belly (YES…I DO THOSE ANNOYING THINGS). She and I have been friends since the 10th grade. She is what my Mom would call a true-blue friend.

prayers for LAUREN SCRUGGS

Fellow Dallas Blogger/Model Lauren Scruggs was injured in a terrible accident in which she lost her left hand and eye, involving a plane. I was literally still after hearing the news, and could do nothing but pray. I then went to my email box and realized she and I had not communicated further on having that coffee that she suggested a few months ago. So people don’t wait on things. Even something as small as coffee, and small talk. You just never know what tomorrow can bring. But what I do know is this…SHE HAS HER LIFE. I can never know her pain, but I pray for her every time she crosses my mind. We are all living testimonies at the end of the day.

She recently followed up on her blog to thank everyone for their prayers, and support.

 

Her Mother journals  the process and its deep. This family is one that believes in the ONE AND ONLY GOD, and its apparent when reading her Mothers words. Just when you think you have it bad, there is always someone else with another struggle that will SHUT YOU UP from having a pity party. I encourage you all to keep her and her family in your prayers.

and those that read the blogs.

I have noticed over the last year that more and more women are coming forward with style blogs. Showing us daily their personal style and how they make it their own. Different colors, sizes, tastes, and economic backgrounds. Everyone seems to have their own voice, and willing to share it everyday.

I have my own ideas as to why I think they are so important, and why more and more are made everyday. But my question is to you-------

WHY DO YOU STYLE BLOG? or READ THEM?

**I am not sure what the issue is, but I am unable to leave comments on most blogs that are under the blogger platform. Is it just me? It has been happening for months, and nothing has resolved it. Suggestions from anyone experiencing the same? **

Last year I posted that I would do a post showcasing new bloggers. I advised most of you that I would do it once the new design was up. Being that it took the designer almost a year, it derailed my plans a bit. So no one is new anymore I guess. My apologies.

I have a tab just for links that I would like to use to showcase other bloggers. I am looking to introduce a diverse group of bloggers via the tab, so those that read my blog can be made aware of other blogs with more than just a list of links.

what is g.i.g.s.

It is OCTOBER and OUR 3 year BLOG ANNIVERSARY!

From time to time I am asked WHAT IS GET IT GIRL STYLE ABOUT? Some might say I offer to much fashion, and not enough décor. Others may ask where is the relationship advice that you have promised for months with Mr. Styles. Or I might get a comment made about an outfit that I may have posted that may be a little “questionable” which is hilarious to me. And then I might get a comment where someone will ask why I am not commenting on their blog. I have been blogging since 2008 folks. That is a good amount of time in blog world. I have seen it all, heard it all, and even schooled by blog hard knocks. I have followed some bloggers that have gone from popular to mega blogger$, and then some that have decided to close out the spot, and move on from blogging. But still, what is G.I.G.S.?

As I have said. GET IT GIRL STYLE is a LIFESTYLE BLOG. This blog is MY LIFESTYLE in the forefront, but it also belongs to so many others. I post what’s on my mind, what’s in my home, what I want to wear, what I cook, and even where I go.

When I get up in the morning on a good day, I walk around our house and look at what we have done. I even smile at our décor, not just because I like it. But because its home. I think of new things to do, make a mental note and move on to the next thing on my list. After a bit, its time to get dressed and that is fun to me. Putting on accessories is fun for me. Again, its my LIFESTYLE, and I am sure I am not alone. Those are things that I enjoy posting. I will find a reason to take a photo of something with a post in mind. I have kids that require my time more the older they get, and hold my brain to the point where I may not even post the next day. Years ago, I posted twice a day, and felt so bad when I could not post one thing. Life does not call for those same behaviors because my lifestyle has changed in a sense.

There are new readers to G.I.G.S. and I want to welcome you, if I have not before. And to those that have read this blog for years, and supported me in all that I have done over here. I thank you. You guys are one reason why I continue to hit the post button when things seem a bit cloudy. This blog is for EVERYONE. A DIVERSE lifestyle galaxy that connects us all to things that are pretty, and of course to what we love.

This blog will always represent a LIFESTYLE. There will always be décor over any other topic, the adventures of fashion and style, and I even may offer an open discussion on topics that come to mind. I may share recipes, the chronicles of my hair, the love for my family, useful projects and DIY’s, real interviews, and yes we will finally have that relationship advice, the latest on career hopes, sponsored posts, and so much more. It just depends on what happens in life, and style. One thing that will forever be an imprint on this blog is the personal feel of me and my honesty. I call it like I see it 100% of the time.

I have always been an email away. EMAIL ME. I would love to hear from you.

(I close with High Fives & Hugs because a high five to me is a symbol of YEAH (with excitement), WAY TO GO,  and of course GET IT GIRL! Hugs are an expression of so many things that are good. We all can use a hug everyday, and this is my way of extending one to you.)

While BAGGIN is on vacation. I wanted to swim into favorite spaces. We all have one in our home. Mine is my office & bed, my mother in laws (RIP) was reading her bible on the porch, my husbands is a small space of quiet for him to read and reflect. My daughter, anywhere her brother is not, and my sons…OUR ROOM.

So I would love to see yours, and share it on GIGS. It does not have to be anything fancy. Its about what you call your favorite “SPACE” and why. From a closet, to a kitchen, chair, outside lounge chair. You name it.

GET IT GIRL STYLE was noted in D Magazines Special Edition this month as a blog putting Dallas on the digital map. D is huge here in Dallas, so seeing my name in print was wonderful. Those are choice words that made me smile. Maintaining a blog as more than just a hobby is a lot of work, but I would have it no other way. Talk about honored. I truly am. Thank you so much to D Magazine and Mrs. Grapevine.
