Get It Girl Spotlight: Freckles Chick

FC ( a*k*a) Freckles Chick is a much needed blog read. Her blog made the Spotlight for her real chick, relatable, easy to read blog. Anytime I have had a question, she was more than happy to assist with information. Her office made my favorite rooms post a while back because of the beautiful colored walls, great accessories, and her ability to bring the room together effortlessly. Checkout her kitchen renovation and quirky fun tidbits. Read more about Freckles Chick below. Enjoy!

1.) What are blog turnoffs for you? example, not enough pics, or to much useless copy/paste from other sites?
Posts that don't credit their sources; no pics or links; too much rambling text; too busy of a background that deters from the content--wow, aren't I a critic!

2.) What made you start blogging, and what keeps you here?
I was between jobs and had some free time on my hands. I've always kept a journal but sort of fell off that wagon. Regardless, I still had a desire to put my random thoughts out there. I see inspiration in everything and a blog helps me organize all my thoughts and inspirations; it frees up some room in this crowded brain of mine =)

3.) Is there anything that you would change about your blog or hope to add?
I've been meaning to customize my blog header with a unique design but haven't gotten around to it!

4.) Out of all of your posts, which post is your favorite and why?
I did a blog giveaway contest called "Pass It On" a few months ago. In order to enter, my readers had to leave a comment telling me how they stumbled upon my blog. It was such a fabulous way to encourage people to 'de-lurk' and get to know them better.
5.) Who is your favorite tv home design personality and why?
Kenneth Brown. His designs are classy chic with an edge that doesn't cross the hopelessly trendy lines. He seems to really listen to his clients and acknowledges that any renovation/redesign comes with its share of surprise and obstacles. You just need to work with what comes your way.

6.) If you could design and sell something what would it be, and where would you want it sold?
Throw pillows for ZGallerie and West Elm.

7.) Favorites: color, personal item, household item, retail store, household store, blog, website.
color: grey (any shade from a whisper of grey to charcoal)--it's so versatile!

personal item: My engagement ring. The Husband chose it completely on his own with no input whatsoever on my end and you know? It's exactly what I would have picked out. Absolutely exceeded my expectations!

household item: We have wood floors throughout the house and a hairy dog, so my stick vac gets used daily.

retail store: JCrew, ZGallerie

household store: Target

blog: Elements of Style; she's a self-trained interior designer, has impeccable taste and is always a source of inspiration.

website: It's a tie between cnn.com and any given celebrity gossip website! What can I say, I love me some current events.

8.) Where do you do most of your blogging?
Mostly in our home office in the evenings.

9.) Favorite magazine, design book?
Mag: House Beautiful
Book: currently Domino Mag: The Book of Decorating

10.) Least favorite home decor style?
It's a tie between 'country' (we're not talking quaint cottage country, but the gingham-craft show-where-wood-went-to-die look) and 'Tuscan theme' (faux paint treatments on walls and bold colors overkill).

11.) Is there a question, email, or comment from bloggers sent to you that made you say HUH?
Last year I posted about the 2008 HGTV Dream Home and received a comment from someone supposedly on their staff. The comment was harmless enough but it sounded like a publicity plug for the contest more than anything.
I've been lucky in that I've never received a negative or snarky comment from a reader. *crossing fingers*
