I am sure most of you are the "head cleaners" in your household as I am. Well...I was cleaning our bathroom today and I was thinking to myself..."Self...your cleaning is off track with no structure"...I guess I am asking for comments based on what you guys do, and how you do it. Once a week, daily, dusting on the second Tuesday, laundry every Friday...I need to get a schedule together so that I don't find myself cleaning the whole house at once, and end up mad at the world because I feel overwhelmed. Make sense? Anyone have a cleaning lady? Any comments would be helpful as always..

soo funny! I was just thinking the other day, I need to make a chore list because I am a random scrubber. :)
I will be waiting with you for tips. I have none to share. I *do* the dishes every night before going to bed. DH puts them away in the AM. That's the only routine that's worked so far.
Cleaning was punishment when I was a kid so you know I just LOVE to clean now as an adult. My mom knows this and has recommended that if I get a fulltime teaching job when we move (I'm parttime right now) that I should definitely get a housekeeper to come a couple of times a week. Our new house is at least twice maybe 3 times as big as where we're living now so if I can barely keep this place clean, I definitely won't be able to keep the new house clean.
As it is, I clean when something starts to bug me or look bad or when people are coming.
I made a weekly chore list for myself. I do it mainly cause I have momnesia. Monday is kitchen, Tues is bathrooms, etc... It seems to help. It's focusing on an area and that way you're not mad at the world because you are spending the whole day cleaning.
thanks for the comments ladies...brenda..I think I will try that..I will make a list when i get to work first thing..they say it takes i think 17 days or is it 21? I think its 21 days to form a new habit so I will update yall in 21 days...
I clean every day.
I call it preventative maintenance...
I dont want to spend all weekend cleaning so I clean everyday..if you let it build up then it becomes a CHORE..
laundry day is a specific day
the bathrooms are a specific day
vacuuming is a specific day
just dont let things build up.
and you have to do something everyday, the house is clean before i go to bed.
Love your blog!
The hubby does a 'deep clean' of everything twice a month and the wifey touches up as and when necessary.
Ugh, I usually end up doing the whole house in one day. However, I do a deep major cleaning every week and in between I dust, vacuum etc... I usually do laundry on Sundays since we're home chillin' :)
I hear ya, girl! I used to spend my whole weekend cleaning. Factor in a big, hairy dog and a messy husband, and I was NOT happy.
So what's worked for me is to break it down throughout the week. Kitchen one day, bathroom the next, etc. Deep clean once a month (wipe down baseboards, door frames, clean out fridge).
My BFF has a maid come once a month to do the really deep cleaning. She says it's the best decision EVER!
I have a weekly list, I work from home and I have a cleaning lady and there always seems something to be done. I think cleaning products always help - and then a list to check off. Never try to tackle it all in one day and enlist help, even if they are family. :)
