I've never done it but if you google floating shelves, you can find lots of tutorials on how to hide the mounting hardare (this can easily just be two floating shelves with the sides tacked on)
Trading Spaces did these all the time so they must be easy to do.
I am seen them but never had them. I move stuff around too much to have the floating shelves.
So cool, love it and the lamp on it!
