This is a tough one because although automatically I think the best gift ever is my engagement ring, the true best gift is finding my husband (without him there would be no engagement ring), it's kinda like a 2 for 1 deal ;)

Besides the obvious gifts: husband, dogs, family members, friends, etc. the best gift I've ever received was my first car. It was a piece of junk, but that bad boy allowed me to roam freely in high school.

well like most I have two, my baby (yorkie xuxa) is the ultimate in emotional gifts, other than that I would MOST definitely have to say when I was on the Oprah show and she gave everyone in the audience a car...It was surreal, I got a car and so did my girlfriend, I have the video and the article (we were in the mag) from PEOPLE magazine posted on my blog, come to think of it, that was very emotional too, best fun I ever had!!

besides the irreplaceable hubby, family, friends, etc. I think my favorite gift are the rings on my finger that remind me of the love of my life every day.

The best gift I have received is the people in my life. From the wonderful man God has put in my life to my parents & grandparents, down to my ALL my god children and everyone in between. Even the people that were only here for a season, cause I learned from them too.

I've not gotten a lot of gifts in my life, seriously. But of the few I have gotten, my favorites have been my four children. They saved my life. And sometimes, my husband has to save their's. It's a vicious cycle. LOL! But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Irreplacable favorite - our daughter.

Material favorite - my Real Simple magazine subscription. I love the magazine, appreciate not having to run to the store to get the latest copy and I am reminded monthly that someone loves me enough to send me this happy!

My favorite gift of all time would have to be my grandmothers pearl necklace and earrings on my 18th birthday. my grandfather gave them to her on their 30th wedding anniversary and they have now been married 63 years. I actually even wore both of them on my weddings.

One of my favorite gifts in life was a bouquet of flowers given to me for my 24th birthday by this guy I was seeing...the best part was the vase--it had my personality written all over it; it was a vibrant color of red with this great semi-shiny lacquered finish. Every time I look at it, I remember our date and some of our good times--so great!

The best gift I received was a six-week trip to Liberia, just after the country ended its civil war. Despite all of the poverty and struggle it is such a beautiful country and the people are even more beautiful. They made me feel so at home, that I almost didn't want to leave, except I did miss my family and learned to appreciate them so much more. There are times my family drives me insane, but I can look at the hundreds of pictures from my trip and be thankful for that experience, to have the things I have, and mostly for all of my loved ones.

Ok, so I am very interested to know whats in the box but I trust and believe that you will always give beautiful gift because you have spectacular style.
So outside of my son being my best gift, I will say that my birthday trip to NY. My GF took me on fabulous trip to NY for my birthday 2 years ago. We shopped, I got to be a tourist and I just had a great time all the the way around. A few pictures are here http://springcart.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/10/back-from-the-i.html

My greatest gift would have to be the letter my grandmother left me. Before she passed away she wrote individual letters to her children and grandchildren. I guess she felt her time was coming. Her passing was a complete shock to us (she was fine then one day she went to sleep and never woke up). Anyway, about two month after her passing we discovered the letters. I received my letter in October, my birthday month... so I consider it a gift! :)

I'd have to say the diamond ring my grandparents gave me when I was 16. They wrapped it in a tiny box inside several other boxes. It was fun to open one box after another. I'm very close to my grandparents, and I'm reminded how much they love me when I wear the ring.

Of course spiritual/sentimental gifts & diamonds..
But the best & most unusual gift was an invitation to drive in the Clinton Administration's motorcade when they came to Cincinnati. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget!

It may sound corny but my husband surprised me one year by taking me to get my teeth whitened. It was something I had mentioned several time that I wanted to do but I knew I couldn't afford it. He saved money for about 6 months until he could pay for the procedure. It was one of the most thoughtful things he had ever done!!

One of the best gifts in life that I have ever received was having had the opportunity to know, spend time, and love my brother for 22 years. He passed away suddenly last May, and I am thankful and honored to have had in my life for as long as I did and be able to call him my brother!

My greatest gift has come from the Lord and that has to be my mother. As the only girl and now a young woman I have developed an extremely close relationship with my mother. Now that she is terminally ill there is nothing greater than being able to call her up and hear her voice, hug her and ask for her advice. I'm newly engaged, just graduated with my master's degree, about to start medical school and dreaming of one day starting a family. Everyday I have to share with her is a gift that I cherish. I'd love to win this for her.

My senior year of high school my boyfriend (at the time) gave me my first piece of Tiffany's jewelry. It was a Elsa Peretti heart bracelet. That love has come and gone, but the rush of opening my first blue box still remains.

This said with all do respect to my current boyfriend, who always does a great job with presents.

And LOVE your blog!

I agree with everyone concerning kids (I have a wonderful stepdaughter) and husband. I was even thinking about putting my 16-yr-old sister - my parents adopted her and we picked her up from her Foster parents a few weeks before Christmas :o)

But I am going to go the diamond route ;o) When I was about 16 my grandmother, who has since died of breast cancer - saw me wearing a handmade thread friendnship bracelet. I loved wearing crafty - handmade type things and I wore that thing all the time and still have it too.

Anyway, she would say you don't have to always wear those handmade things (she actually said another word :o) I am going to buy you a diamond tennis bracelet, so you can throw that thing in the trash.

I told her that my bracelet was way less expensive than any diamond, and she said (again I'm summarizing) it doesn't matter how much it costs I can afford it - you are worth it :o)

All in all, I got my tennis bracelet and still have it. And it's really not the gift of the bracelet that I cherish - it's the lesson - of knowing my worth. Sometimes as young girls and women we forget our worth and it's important to have something or someone to remind us of that :o)

Absolutely, without a doubt, my favorite gift I've ever received is the love of my wonderful husband. The most beautiful baubles are no match for the way he makes me feel....

My favorite gift in like was the gold and diamond studded neckalace I received for Christmas last year. I know it's not a lot but for me it had so much meaning because it came from my daddy. A little background. Last year my brother was shot 5 times so everything in my house was crazy and everyone was stressed out around the holidays. My dad had basically stopped working to take care of my brother and I was the only person working in our household and I have a niece and nephew who had to go through everything as well. So on Black Friday, I took my dad shopping with me to go buy Christmas gifts for my family, hoping to catch some sales. While we were in a final store, I passed by the jewelry counter and this necklace caught my eye. I was in awe of this necklace and I'm not a big jewelry person so it was strange for me to do that. My dad came over and said I should go ahead and buy it for myself, but I just brushed it off becuase I swear I had spent nearly 1000 dollars on gifts (there are 2 kids, and 4 adults) but I was tapped out and we ended up leaving the necklace in the store. Well on Christmas morning, everyone was opening their gifts and I knew I wasn't getting much of anything, because I normally only get 1 or 2 things. So it was finally my turn, and I open my gifts, some new sheets and some books and then my dad turns to my brother and whispers something to him. And my brother goes out the room and comes back in with this box and hands it to me and I open it up and inside is this necklace that I had seen in the store with my dad that day. I wear that necklace everyday. And it makes me remember that no matter how bad the year was for me, my brother is still with us and doing well, and we got through everything as a family.

My favorite gift in life has been...my mother-in-law. It was an honor to have known her for 13 years of my life! She was strong woman, never raised her voice - a gentle giant. We lost her 2 1/2 years back - I think of her every day

This is a great question... The greatest gift in my life would have to have been my father who passed away in 2005. It was not until he was gone that I realized how much I took after him... He was my inspiration and help me be the strong, independent woman I am today.

The best gift I ever received was a bag of candy bars.

Once back when my husband and I were dating I'd had an absolutely HORRIFIC day. So that evening when he got home from work he gives me a great big hug and then handed me a brown paper bag. I open it and find it's filled with random candy bars from the little bodega (family owned and operated mini-mart) on the corner.

He said, "I didn't know what your favorite was so I got them all". I was just staring at this man and this bag filled to the brim with candy bars he just handed me not really knowing exactly what to say. I was just shaking my head and chuckling. He just shrugged his shoulders and said, "I figured candy makes everyone smile".

He was right, I've been smiling ever since.

God has given me some many gifts over the years. But in all honesty, my husband is the best gift. Years ago, my real estate agent lost her husband and she stated to me, that he was like her skin. And at the time, I didn't receive it. But after years of marriage I still think on that comment. So I can best describe my gift (my husband) by giving you the definition of skin. He is my outer covering. He makes me feel protected. He help regulate my body temperature and restores (accepts)me for who I am. And this best describe my husband. Be Blessed!
