Now showing: IN COLOR

I am loving the colors of furniture these days. People are painting things in colors rather than the basics. I love the basics, but the color has bitten me with love. I suwannee has store with things redone in color. The first time below is a piece she updated. Gorg...

I love them all. time to paint some stuff up....

Isn't Little Green Notebook's stuff fantastic?? She's so talented, I'm always blown away. But that red dresser she did for her office??? OMG. Gorgeous.

And I'm in love with that second picture - the green grasscloth wallpaper is beautiful!

I grew up wandering around antique shows, thrift shops and estate sales with my mom and spot great pieces of furniture that I thought just "needed a little something different." But no one really seemed to do that 10 or 20 years ago. I'm so happy everyone's giving these pieces of furniture a second chance, and I never get sick of seeing what they've done!

I love these bold colored pieces. But I have a dilemna. The old pieces I have need some lovin' but they belonged to my late parents. I've been lead to beleive that painting de-values the piece. I guess I'm afraid to dishonor my parents things.

Love me some painted furniture as well.

Wisdom Goddess Born- IMHO, if you love the piece even more and will hold onto it forever then you are valuing it even more. It simply adds to the story of the piece for you to pass on. I don't think you should have anything you don't love...now if it is a very expensive antique that will loose it's monetary value if painted then I would probably say no. Just my .02

This was a great post, thanks for this! I actually just bought some new furniture a few months ago from Ikea, all in raw pine. My friend was suggesting that I stain it or something but I don't know how or what and basically just had no inspiration. Now, I'm flipping through swatches! : ) You are now my furniture guru. I've booked marked you.

Thanks Tami. No I don't think they're expensive antiques and I do love this color wave, so I'm thinking I'm gonna go for it. Maybe I'll have some pictures of my own soon.

I love painted furniture! Especially the older pieces painted a modern color and blended in with modern pieces! Fabulous! <3

I'm a lover of painted colored furniture too. Now I've dialed it up another notch and I'm not happy unless I have leopard printed, numbered, argyled, or striped it. Sometime I do all of those on one piece. I love a controversial or statement piece in every room. It's better than drama in my life :) Bring on the color!

I love the second picture. That mint color is so peaceful and serene. Makes me want to paint something in my house that color.
