A day of projects

So I painted up the dresser, stripped the paint off of my sons desk, bought a sunburst with no mirror for $12 at Marshalls, primed the sunburst, and the rest is waiting in the wings.

(Don't be afraid, its only paint)

I had never used paint stripper before. This stuff will burn the hell out of your skin. I had on gloves and it damn near ate through the gloves.

But look at this with primer only. I know its missing the mirror, but we can still make this bad boy work somewhere in the house. Suggestions?

Here is a sneak peak at the color. The bottom is primed, and the top is the Heirloom White.

I plan on lightening the master up, and this is a start.

Hey Tam,

I would find a piece of wood, paint it in a contrasting color, or find some wallpaper in a design I like, add some numbers and make it a clock!

Your poses were hilarious! I would've hated to be in your way that day. Loving the starburst...how would it look centered over the bed?

I love that mirror!! Beautiful!!

I would hand the starburst sans mirror - it is still totally chic!

Also - you look pretty gangsta with the paint gun and mask!

You could leave it without the mirror as a piece of art hung over a console table or make it a frame. Or what I like to do with old frames is make them into shadow box/memory boxes. Instead of framing pictures, you add momentos.

Hi Tam

Just popped over to have a quick look at how the new year is treating you and just had to say that I love the new look site and am already a fan of the new blog too!

Your blog is one of my favourite blogs. Stylish and sassy, absolutely fabulous.

Wishing you blessings all the way from London, England ;)

Girl I started to post a picture of myself wearng my mask while I waas out painting today and thought.....HELL NO!!! your hair is so cute! Dayka told me not to put a relaxer in my hair and just straiten it if I did'nt want the curls-did I listen? nooo....

Anywho, loving the heirloom white and that starburst frame will work anywhere! I like what Ericka suggested over the bed!

Heirloom white was a great choice. You HAVE to use chemical resistant gloves with that stripper--that stuff is no joke, but works so well. Can't wait to see your bedroom . . .

And you didn't mention you did it all while looking fab! And you aren't lying about stripper eatting through your skin. that stuff is viscious, yet necessary. You sure did get bunches done in one day!

Girl, you are the bomb!! I wish we lived closer so I could use your backyard for projects! ;-) I cannot do stuff like this at my condo, LOL--my neighbors would probaby call the popo if they heard any of that commotion, haha.

you finally found your starburst! i must have missed that post. Heirloom White is nice. Not too stark white. Very vintage.

I would hang the sunburst sans mirror too! What a score!

And when I saw that bamboo dresser as I was catching up on your posts, I almost fainted. What a GORGEOUS piece. The creamy white makes it even lovelier.
