What’s Next?

Here is the next big project up for the Styles'...FLOORS! Walls...my goodness so much. My house is a wreck right now. I have things all over the place in this house. Projects that are not done, and items that need to be moved back in the rooms...But 2010 is the year to get it done.DSC_0358These floors are on their way out! Its time to send laminate on its merry little way. Below is the chosen one. CHOCOLATE!DSC_0149_01 Our kitchen has a skylight. But the lighting is BAD when I cook at night. Recessed lighting here I come. We have been getting quotes out the wahzzo for stuff. I am thinking of doing either 4 or 6 lights. I looooove lights. This was suppose to be done yesterday, but the contractor is doing A and B, and trying to handle C. So we are going to give him until Friday to get this going, or we are moving on the next one.DSC_0357

What are you working on? And more snow coming..damn, enough.

XOXOX,

Hi Tam - We just finished our dining room and did dark floors too - makes are room so much larger! Hang in there, our house was a hot mess! for weeks...Love the color floors you picked out, they will make a HUGE differance.

Next up we are working on the Master bedroom and then refinshing all our wood floors can't wait.

Wow, this is so exciting! By the time you finish all of your projects you home will feel like a new one! I love the skylight in the kitchen. Reminds me of something you would see in Florida. Are those common in TX?

The chocolate floors will look stunning! I'm refraining from home improvement this year with fun exception of insulating the attic. I'm thinking about paying someone to deal with that one!

Great new floor choice. I would have chosen this for our home, but we couldn't help ourselves with a bargain we found. Light maple laminate flooring - the total to do two floors in our house: $200.00

The new flooring choice is going to look beautiful. Thanks so much for your comment on my blog!

We have dark maple floors ; similar to the ones ypu've chosen. I think you'll really like them but don't be too hard on yourself about keeping them clean. Unfortunately they're beautiful, but show every bit of hair and dust!

Some people think this is tacky, but I think its imperative... I want dark floors like yours almost thru the whole house... if it's not too forward... can you tell us your quotes on price per sq foot for materials and install. I am thinking I am going to pay around $3.50 for materials and $4 for install.

I am getting my master bedroom done since I think that is most important... you seen the layout.

Next will be the family/living room which I am at a lost for but have became smitten with the Maxwell couch I told you about.

Hi Tamara,

Thanks for visiting my blog recently and for your comment. It always exciting to meet someone new. First, I love the floor you have selected, very chic. I agree that lighting is very important. We just built our house so we went ahead and put the recessed lights (total 4), plus two pendant lights over the island and a chandelier over the breakfast table. In addition to all that we also have two small lights in our glass cabinet and under cabinet lighting. Seriously, we got light! Although we have a new house, it seems the projects keep coming. We already remodeled the laundry/mudroom, now we are building shelves, a dish cabinet and broom closet in our butler's pantry. My hubby is really good at building things, thank goodness! I wish he knew more about electrical and plumbing. The bills we paid to remodel the laundry/mudroom could have paid for a new washer/dryer.

Love your blog, have a great week!
