DIY- Concrete Floor

Behr Concrete Bonding Primer and Glidden Floor & Porch Satin Paint made me smile.

I get emails from time to time from readers asking me about my daughters room, and asking me when will I finish, and asking me to give her chance. As I mentioned she has a hard time keeping it clean, and I refuse to see it less than how I created it. My poor hubby even cleans her room. So I thought I would give her a chance after a talk, and started with the floor. I actually think this option is a good one for her right now. We wont have to worry about her ruining carpet or wood right now. I always tell her “WHEN ITS TIME FOR YOU TO GO TO COLLEGE, THIS WILL BE MY DRESSING ROOM”----so for now… I like what I did, and so does she. Hubby likes it so much he wants me to do something in the room that I painted black.

I am going to good ole IKEA this weekend. I am so excited, and plan on getting something's to finish her room on up. Looking forward to it. Stay tuned.

How was it done?

Mr. Styles ripped out the carpet while I was away to my surprise. I was all smiles and made a quick trip to Home Depot with my pregnant Sister. I picked up the two items below. No color added. Just pulled them off of the shelf. Hubby has swept the floor, so all I had to do was get a roller, extender, pan liner, pan…and roll the primer on the floor. I let it dry for about an hour. I then slipped on another roller and rolled on the paint. I let dry and used a sponge brush to get in the areas the roller could not. After that dried, I went over the entire floor with another coat of paint. The objective was the same as with the walls. No LINES.

I'm planning to paint my concrete patio in a few weeks. Hope you finish first so I can see what your project looks like! I know it will be FAB! Luckily my little patio is outside and beHIND my house so mistakes won't be too noticible if it turns out bad!

Good Luck!

So cool....
I have painted concrete before in my old condo.
Sad part was I didn't prime (because I didnt know at the time)
With that said it was a black lacquer color that began to fade immediately.

Sadly we went back to carpet. This room was a tv room and it was NEVER clean!!!

I am anxiously waiting on this room.
And hummm why are girl so unorganized (i really wanna say dirty) these days? My Darling Daughter is the WORST!!!

We painted our garage floor which is concrete and spent almost $400 and it was a total disaster just make sure you do it right and don't cut corners or it will peel. Of course we have cars parked on top of it but the areas that don't get much use also started coming up. Water also adds to that. Good luck!

Hmmm...! I am actually thinking of doing this for my main living areas where (cream colored) carpet is right now. I plan to do wood when the Bens are right, but I am afraid of making a big mistake by taking up so much carpet. I thought it would be a nice transition until we get wood. Of course I would have the opportunity to put in large decorative rugs, but I do not know if this would be a safety hazard with a 1.5 year old. I am just tired of looking at all those carpet stains that keep returning after a cleaning.

Can you check it out and see what you think. I need an outside opinion since you've done it in a smaller area. Is it too much?

I can't wait to see the finished product!

I literally laughed out loud when I read this because I thought I was the only one who told their child that I'd turn their room into my dressing room when they leave for college! How funny...

My daughter keeps her room a mess as well! She's mad at me right now because I went in there and boxed up a bunch of junk and put it in the basement. What is it with girls?! (My son is to busy playing video games to mess his room up) ;) good luck. Maybe a makeover will inspire her to keep it clean? One can only hope, right?!

I love the shadows being cast on the floor! What type of light fixture do you have in this room?

I like how this looks, but won't it be cold on her feet?
Best of luck with getting your little one to keep her space clean :)
