GRAY OR BLUE

I have had these lamps for a while, and wanted to do something different with them. They started out as gold base lamps, with a brown dupioni shade. Well time for a change, and gray they became. I had no fabric until that trip to Ikea that I keep referring to.

Not making me smile yet.

Fabric, Hot Glue, Scissors…Lets go.

I saw these colors and thought this fabric was a cool combination of what I like.

They look great to me.

But I wanted to try a touch of blue to only one, just to see if I liked it.

DSC_0010

Liking it for sure. At least I think I do.

DSC_0039

I am very indecisive, and I mean very. I love gray a bit to much sometimes.

Here they are outside with the true light, and color reflection.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

GRAY OR BLUE?

I like the blue Tam!

Wow Tam,

I honestly can say I like both.

Here's why.

The gray kind of makes a subtle hint. Nothing jarring, but compliment everything around it.

The blue of course, pays homage to the fabric on the shade, and thats just doing it right.

I'm splitting my vote down the middle.

Wait.

Can I do that?

Blue or gray? This is tough, I love BOTH colors and I think they just look fab. Good luck picking one color. By the way I love the picture of your kids.

First let me say great job! They look wonderful. And I LOVE the fabric you picked for the shade. I am drawn a little more to to the blue one because it pops with color. And because I like blue.

The blue because of the "pop." I think they both look great and you've inspired me to try this project myself - thanks!

I am loving the blue! But I also like the grey!! Loving the blue!

I prefer the gray, but if you're looking for a pop of color the blue is doing it.

I have a new love affair with gray because of a friend's Gray is Great series...so I'm going wiht the gray!

wow, tough choice! the blue definitely pops esp against the curtains, but the gray offers a nice subtle contrast to the lamp shade! >,< if i had to pick though.. i'd vote gray! subtle & sophisticated.

I'll go for the blue! That pop of color offset the natural tones of the curtains. Great job! You give such good ideas for the home. Can you come to LA and help revamp my house. LOL. Btw, what product did you use to paint these lamps?

A job well done Tam!

BLUE!!!

I love the fabric you choose for the shade and I like that the lamps are a matte finish instead of glossy - looks good

Gray for sure! I feel like blue is a little too childish.

let's put a twist to it and keep one grey and one blue!
BAM there you go.
The BLUE POPS!
The grey keeps it calm.

After careful review of the FAB Fabric, we are going with the Blue!

I love your blog!! You are so talented and stylish! I like the gray, the blue would work if it were a bit muted with gray or navy.

D@mn lady, your skills are infinite! You already know I'm gonna say gray (cuz that's my color!) but I agree with Rashon, the blue is doing it right. ;) Either way, you can't go wrong!

~Jazz

P.S. You've given me inspiration for new lamps. You say you got that fabric at IKEA? ;) lol

Brown Birdy said...

OMG I LOVE BOTH OF THEM! Also I love it before you covered them ha...was that a vintage shade or did you buy them somewhere I can get my hands on them?

Thanks you guys for helping and giving me your advice. Alot of you asked. The paint is Colbert Blue (satin) from Walmart. The fabric is from Ikea ($6.99 a yard). Let me know if I can answer anymore questions. Yall are the BEST!!

I like them both !! Great job !

Toya said...

Great job on both, I honestly like them both but the blue pops with that fabric. I think the color would depend on what else is in tbe room. Good luck either way I'm sure the room will look fab!

Kim - Commander-in-Chic said...

Blue!! Its easy to steer towards the safer neutral, but the blue is more GIGS!
