Ok....time to start part two. I saw this image of this chair with the green velvet on it and thought it looked great. I think that would look great on my chair. I had not decided which chair if any I was gonna redo, but so far I am leaning toward the chair below. The linen will go with anything, and I don't want the room to be to matchy matchy anyway. Any opinions here? Do you think the velvet would look good on my chair and look great with my linen sofa?

I might be misunderstanding what you mean so if so, just ignore me.
But in my opinion, your chair shouldn't be upolstered in green fabric. For one thing, your chair is a lot more ornate than the one in the photo. Its too much for me. Second, I think a more neutral color is just more practical when you consider how much it costs to reupholster in the first place. And third - a green chair in a green room is overkill.
Just my 2 cents.
I am gonna go on record and say no on the green. I think the green chair in the green room is too much.`
I would have to say no with the green. I say keep it neutral.
I love that green chair but after reading the answers I'm torn. I do see that yours is more ornate. Something to think about.
that first photo is so great...the purple and green combo really works especially when broken up with silver. what if you did a toned down purple against your green?
Sorry...the room is not green...the only green room I have is my office! Miscommunication. The room where the sofa will be will be a light brown color.
It's not so much that the green bothers me as much as the velvet with the linen. The velvet is too heavy for the linen and too old school with an old school chair. You are shifting the sofa with the linen so you need to stay in the same line with the chair. If you want green I would choose a different fabric and something a little more fun and laid back like the linen and pillows are.
Its official NO GREEN VELVET!
