A Dream - A Reality

You guys do not know my love for this store. It goes all the way back to the early years of 2000 when I was in the magazine business. I had plans of going to NY to shop at H & M and it has yet to happen. But something said to me yesterday.

“Tamara?…You should check and see if H & M is here”

I checked with my cell phone, and it popped up with the stores being all over. So below is a chronicle of my first ever trip to H & M, and what I liked and didn't like.

I have been on a Harem Pant kick lately, and ummm my shape is not made for these Harem Pants at all. How dare they not fit me, and sag?

I found a lot of the pants to not work with my body type as you can see.

This top is F21. I really like it. These shirts are just great for hiding imperfections while still looking fashionable and girly. Clearly my shorts would not go with the top because they have to much going on with the patches. But a plain fitted jean would be cute.

I had a great time! And will be going back since the mall was closing when I went.

Super cute post. I was all gung-ho about H&M too but it is really a hit or miss type of place.

You are a brave woman to post the bad outfits. :)

haha! i love your facial expression in some of the thumbs down shots - and so cool of you to post the 'thumbs down' pics too - may people wouldn't!

you are a trip, your face in some of those photos (the ones where you did not like the clothing) made me laugh out loud! i feel the same way about h&m, we have a good sized on in boston and when i go, it's hit or miss. sometimes the quality is up there ans sometimes it's lacking. but still, great stuff for cheap, i especially have good luck finding cheap jewelry!

lol - very funny!

I can't believe there's not an H&M near you! I love buying there cheap sunglasses! They are hit and miss for me too...even with the low prices.

I've been to the H&M in NYC so much fun the store is HUGE!

Your pics are hilarious. H & M is really a hit or miss especially in the pants department if you have body like you and me. But that jacket is off the chain.

Those harem parents...yep those are the same ones I bought last week in Virginia. I thought they would look better once I got home and jazzed them up...NOT!But they are great for watering my lawn!LOL

I love H&M, I think it's a matter of picking the better quality stuff. I don't wear pants often so I usually aim for the tops and dresses.

I tried on that jacket too but I am top heavy for it:( Glad you finally went!I usually always google that store when I travel.

It's a better quality level than Forever 21 for me atleast. I get some great dresses from there everytime!

Haha, love the thumbs up/down pics. I was so sad the first time I went to H&M. It looked so awesome on TV but when I got there everything I tried on seemed to fit weird. It's always a hit or miss : /

You're a cutie, T! I'm just so-so for H & M. I don't know what it is and why I don't love it!

I was soooo excited when H&M came to SF. We now have three. I agree with you all in that it is really hit or miss. I have found some nice items there. I try to pop in on the regular to see what they have.

I do the up/down/sideways thumb, too. It helps me remember what I liked/didn't when I get home. I stay away from bottoms at H&M. It's a Swedish company and it seems like they fixed the fit a bit for us in the US. However, the clothes their definitely fit women who walk way more than we do over here.

Congrats on finding your local H&Ms! :-)

You crack me up T! H&M rocks! I wish we had one here in South Florida. I get my dose when I hit up NYC! Hope you bring home lots of goodies!!

This post had me cracking up til the end. I love that you showed the ill-fits, too. I say grab some tops and then head to Macy's and buy a pair of PZI jeans. They will fit that coke bottle of yours like a glove. Great post...I hope you are having a great time with your family. Hugs.

I LOVE and MISS H&M. When I moved from Boston to FL I was so surprised that Miami of all places does not have one.

Ironically, RI has one-MA has three-and the closest in FL is orlando.

I loved your pics and that bracelet is off the hook.

i agree with almost everything but i think the first jeans look super cute on you.

Great post hon. I love H&M, it's one of my favorite stores... but it is truly hit or miss. Sometimes I'm in there for hours and come out with 1 or a few things, but the items are treasured. Depending on what you get the stuff holds up well too. I have things from there that I've had for years and they are still running strong!

Yes girl. H&M remains to be the ish... Its a cult favorite for New Yorkers.

You looked great in a few of those bottoms that you gave a thumbs down but for the most part I agree with your picks!

YOU ARE WRONG. The light blue washed bell bottomed jeans fit well. Whats wrong with them? a little bended knee, bouncing booty action a few times and your booty will fit snug....I am mad you didn't select them!

Unknown said...

I have that jacket and the matching skirt. I bought them when they first came out. Now I'm mad I paid full price for them but I didn't know if my size would be there by the time they finally marked them down lol.

There were a couple of harem pants that you thumb'd down that I thought were cute.
