I usually don’t post to much celebrity “news”. But I saw these and my mind started to think. So of course I wanted to chat it up with you guys a bit. Why Not?

Question. If you had it. Would you spend $100,000 on a nursery?

$100,000 !!! I would only spend that much if I had the same amount to donate for charity....mmm wait, I think is too much, I'm pretty sure you can have a very nice looking and stylish nursery for a whole lot less.
Better give those $$ for those who really need it, I think is kind of disgusting, unless she is giving a HUGE contribution for charity.

Hmm...
Wel I think this type discussion also came about when P Diddy, Puff Daddy, Puffy, Sean P Diddy Puff Daddy Combs, bought his soon a super expensive car.
When you have a large amount of money, your level of spending is different from those who don't.
For some a $100,000 is outrageous and insane, but at the same time someone may think a $1,000 nursery is outrageous and insane.
This figure is definitely co dependent upon your expendable income.

The crib and room are gorgeous, but I wouldn't spend that on a nursery. There are so many other costs for which the money could be better used!

I just can't justify spending that much. Babies only use that stuff for the first year or two. Heck even for furniture plannign to last ten years, i wouldn't spend that much if i had it.

Honestly i expect nothing less from Mariah. She addicted to being over the top and she has the budget to do so.

The room is beautiful...however, if I had it I would spend it like that! Honestly, I would want a room that was more transitional...they arent going to be babies forever. You can have a nice nursery but after a year or so you are going to want to change the room to fit the childs personality.

I agree 100% with Mr.GWH. Yes there a soo many other things to do with that 100K but you can't take the money with you. Why work this hard and achieve this great a success to not enjoy it to it's fullest. Remember, Mariah and husband tried for a really long time to get pregnant, she's giving her child the world because for a good while, they didn't know if it would even be possible. I spend way over my means sometimes to have what I want, the rich and famous are surely no exception. Right or wrong...it's all perception but it is a fact Americans in general spend way too much money.

I get it, but...My husband would tell me to sit down somewhere, and regroup.

Heck no I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a nursery.

Just because you can buy something doesn't mean you should buy something - and that's applicable across all income levels.

The room is BEAUTIFUL, I probably could have captured this same essence on a lower spending scale. Mariah is soo rich, I'm sure she just hires someone and they don't do a budget.

Pretty nursery - I wouldn't spend that much no way, but if I had her money I could so see a pricey stroller and a few other crazy over the top items

i agree...a real nice stroller, diaper bag...clothes out the world...but 100k is crazy for babies that wont use that decor for very long...

Thats's alot of money, yes. BUT Mariah and Nick's money is very long....I'm sure they are not spending what they don't have...I HOPE! And besides the worth of her shoes and THAT closet of hers are well over the 100K she spent on this nursery. LOL.

Well, considering the fact that she makes about 3O millions a year and nick makes about 15 millions, 100,000$ is not that bad. It's like a regular person spending 100$!!!! Plus, they struggled to have those babies so they are probably gonna buy everthing (no matter the price)to those kids!!!!!

Mariah Carey has donated tens of millions of dollars to charitable organizations...one of which is The Fresh Air Fund.

She had a really hard time with an oppressive, controlling first husband, barely had any time to enjoy the fruit of her labor because she constantly worked in her twenties and thirties - plus she got screwed in her contracts because her first husband was a megalomaniac - and finally found true love in a young man who clearly adored her such that he had her entire name tattoed across his back.

So she found true love and now will have a set of twins. If she feels her babies deserve a $100,000 nursery then good for them all. Its not like honey was laying around collecting welfare and doing nothing with her life then hit the lottery. She worked pretty hard to get to a place where she can raise a family comfortably.

Absolutely not! Unless the nursery includes my kitchen, living room, master bedroom...you get my drift! I would rather use the money and adopt and other child so two little people can be blessed in our home.

To answer your question: No.

But I sure as heck would love to have been the decorator! She got paid!

woooooooo she really did go all out, she living in the nursery too? Like my abuelita would say "Con dinero baila el perro"

With money even the dog will dance.

This discussion points out that the acceptable amount spent on decor varies greatly for some people. I would never pay full price for most items for my home because my taste changes like the wind, but I was reading a blog a few weeks ago where a couple paid $100k for a LIVING ROOM design that they didn't even like and the email they wrote mentioned that they were by no means wealthy so...I think this amount spent for Mariah is not that much..Plus I think the pieces would be easy enough to sell once the children have outgrown the decor..honestly the only thing that lets me know that this is a nursery is the crib!

I think it's fine. I'm sure so many companies donated items to get credit. I read something about Mariah getting other types of cribs, so who knows what's even true. It's like Cribs. Many of those houses were rented and the celebrities weren't the true owners. They just pretended like it was their house and gave the tour. It was a way to get publicity when the show was really popular. I recently found this out and couldn't believe it. But -- that's how it works these days. Mariah has been very sharing w/this pregnancy and I *do* believe it's for the fans. I also believe that it's a very smart way to help transition her in the public eye from hot short wearing, Hello Kitty lover to mom. I'm certain there is a media angle to this because those people do *not* stop working!
