DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS

The Styles Family decided to go to the BIGGEST STATE FAIR IN THE USA. Oprah came, and had a great time with Gale King, and Nate Berkus to name a few. We missed it last year, so made it a point to go on half off Tuesday. With a Dr. Pepper can you get in for only $3, and all rides are 5 tickets which was GREAT. We saved a lot with two kids. 20 tickets is $10. You can eat and ride the rides with the tickets only. We arrived at around 6pm. The weather was perfecto, and ready for us. We didn't tell the kids we were going. We tried to surprise them. My daughter saw that I had brought my camera, and once we hit South Dallas, she knew something was up. She shouted “Are we going to the fair", “Mama doesn't just bring her camera for nothing”…Good girl. I teach her to be observant, and she was on her came even though she talked on that damn cell phone the whole way there, as her brother sang in her ear, and irritated her until she reacted. But as you see. They love each other, its only them. And if one rides a ride. The other rides the ride. So here are a few pictures of our day.

*NOTE: THERE ARE NO PICTURES OF ME. HELD CAMERA A BIT TIGHT"*

And we are out. It was light when we came, and dark when we left.

The Texas –vs- OU Game will be held there Saturday. My hubby is the biggest OU FAN there is (as seen on his shirt) and will watch the game all day, talk trash on the phone, and then tell me about it once its over. He even started talking to a lady at the fair that spotted his shirt.

Overall we had a great time!

Great pics! I will be headed to the Greatest Fair in the USA on NEXT Friday! Celebrating my BDay! This will be only my 2nd trip to the fair; the last time I went (2 yrs ago) was on Dr. Pepper Tuesday also!! My father was visiting from Ohio and we went together! Big fun! We rode the train from Funkytown and back. As a Ohio Native going to the State Fair in October was different but understandable because of the HEAT! Glad you and family had a great time!

Yay, these pictures made me feel like I was there! Great images, Tam. We went to the fair last summer in Myrtle Beach. It was my first encounter with the Fried Oreos. They were so rich, I could only eat one. As for the rides, the teacups had me about to chuck my lunch. Can't seem to ride all the rides after having the babies. The nausea comes quick!

The pics looks really good - reminds me of the CA State Fair, everything is fried: Twinkies, corn dogs, sinkers and way more then can remember!

Looks like a blast

Mmmmmm I looove fair food. But, what the heck is fried coke?? And
Fried butter? Yikes.

At the San Diego Co fair they try & top the crazy food each year. I've seen fried mac n cheese on a stick (they went as good as I hoped), fried avacado on a stick and fried hard boiled eggs (you guessed it) on a stick.

What great pics and thanks for sharing some fun family time! It's great to see your family in action...and Fried butter? Was that just a sign? No wonder my size 18 body fits right in in Texas....too much frying going on! Nothing is fried here but potatoes! Blessings

Love these comments. The fried butter is a piece of butter wrapped in dough, and fried. They then sprinkle it with whatever you like. they also had fried frito pie and fried salad...

LOL the fried butter!!!!! and fried oreos...and, well, fried everything!

Can I just say that I just absolutely love seeing a dad with his kids - especially a black dad with his son - makes my heart melt. You have a beautiful family girl. And in one of the pics your girl looks just like you! Love that you're capturing all these moments for them - they'll be so grateful to have these years from now.

(hope no one takes my comment out of context....)

As soon as I saw the first picture, I recognized the Cotton Bowl. My husband is a HUGE OU Fan ... We weren't able to go to the game this year, so we watched it on tv which was almost as stressful as being there this year! Anyway, thanks for sharing your pictures. Between watching the game and viewing your pix, i almost feel like I was there this year!

Stylishly yours,
Kalyn

OMG....girl, i love ALL the pictures, the fair is THE BEST! Fletcher's corny dog, FIRST thing I eat EVERY TIME I FIRST step foot in the fair, LOL! And the Love Bug and the Boat are the BEST rides, RIGHT next to each other...I hate that I didn't get to try the Fried Butter, I heard SO MUCH about it. I had the Fried Honey Bun, the Fried Twinkie, and the Fried Banana Pudding which was DELISH! I did my blog on the fair last night, and it was SO MUCH fun doing it LOL!
